Greetings, Creator! Are you in need of some loud and epic music for your project? I might have something for you!

Of Battles and Bases is a music pack inspired by my nostalgia for High Fantasy games such as Warcraft III or Heroes of Might and Magic V. It features 27 tracks written for 4 different factions loosely based on Warcraft III’s original four factions, as well as 3 bonus tracks.

What you will get:

Included in this pack are 30 tracks in 44.100khz and 24bit .wav and and 320kbps .mp3 files. In addition, I’ll put in the stems of the individual orchestral sections (strings, brass, winds, percussion, choir, other) in .wav so you can do your own remixes or layer in the individual sections depending on the gameplay.

Please take note that some tracks don’t include all sections. Also, the individual sections come without mastering and the combined reverb of the whole orchestra, as rendering every possible combination of instruments for each section and track would’ve ballooned this pack beyond proportions. Please refer to the spreadsheet included in the download.

A bit of Lore to get you in the mood:

Beyond the highest mountains and deepest seas lies a war-torn realm of magic, spirits and legends. Once a peaceful and idyllic land full of life in all of its numerous forms, it was not long ago that the greed of a few amongst mankind to allowed an Empire to rise and cast its shadow upon the meadows and forests of the world. Tearing deep scars into the mountains and the ground, the people of the Empire exploited the natural resources of their realm until there was nothing more to mine.

Desperate in their need for infinite growth and prideful in its might, they began to take their proud knights and screeching war machines to the lands of the Nomad Tribes and the seemingly endless forest of the Eldest. But after a series of early victories, the military might of the Empire faces serious opposition as the their enemies start summoning spirits of nature to aid them in their battles. Fearing defeat, the Empire starts to deploy the help of mages that have found ways to resurrect the fallen soldiers as soulless, fighting husks. But it turns out that the Necromancers have their own plans to turn the tides of war…

So, if you’re into old-school strategy games, then…

Yes! It absolutely means that I would love to do some expansion packs. I’ve got ideas for music based around a couple of additional factions. The first would be Of Halls and Clouds, dealing with the sturdy miners and artisans of the Mountain Dynasty as well as with the Sky Temple, a spiritual tribe of peaceful, but resilient monks. Next up would be Of Fire and Frost, which will feature the fire elementals and devilish warriors of the Demon Realm as well as the Frost Fleet, an armada of sunken ships resurrected by the ghosts of the their drowned sailors. Finally, I have a couple of ideas floating around for a third expansion pack concerning which is called Of Waves and the Deep, which would be about the horn-raising, axe-wielding Wave Raiders as well as a legion of marine horrors challenging the land-dwellers.

However, all of this is a lot of work and there’s other projects I have to take care of. Me deciding to start working on expansion sets, as much fun as it would be, heavily depends on the reception of the starter pack. Therefore, I don’t make any promises here.

About me

I’m a self-taught composer from the northern parts of Germany, currently located in Lüneburg, a small but beautiful city south of Hamburg. Although I’ve been writing music since my early teen years, it took me years to take it seriously enough to quit other time-intensive ambitions and focus entirely on composing and music production (on the side of a day job, of course - I’m not made of money). In that, I take my influences not only from other composers and their movie and game soundtracks, but also from my own history as a metalhead and especially my love for Melodic Death Metal such as Dark Tranquillity, but also newer subgenres such as Progressive Death (Fallujah) and Thrash Metal classics (Kreator). However, I maintain the notion that there is amazing music to be found in nearly any genre if you keep an open mind, and I am constantly on the lookout for new and exciting music. Because that’s what I am at my core - a music fan.
